Data & GDPR

Your Information on Arbor
When  your child starts at Freeman CP School, we collect data about you and your child on our Personal Data Forms.  This data includes their name, address and date of birth, and your contact details so we can reach you in an emergency and keep you up-to-date with what is happening at the school.. All of this information can be seen on your child's Student Profile page on Arbor.

Once a term we will ask you to look at the information we have on Arbor and check that all the details are still correct.  It is then your responsibility to make any changes to the information by either updating it directly on Arbor yourself or by advising us via the office (tel: 01449 612067 or email: admin@freeman.suffolk.sch.uk) so we can make the changes for you.

If there any changes to the family situation, i.e. parental separation, family medical condition or if a complicated situation arises at home, you can share that with us confidentially by contacting the office or speaking to the class teacher so we can provide the appropriate support to your child.

Data Protection and Privacy Guidance
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in the UK on the 25th of May 2018.  It is a piece of EU-wide legislation which gives individuals more control over how their personal information including detailing;

  • How the information is used
  • How it can be accessed
  • How to rectify incorrect information
  • Erasing data
  • How to restrict or object to the use of the data.

At Freeman CP School we have Privacy Notices for Parents and Pupils and Staff and Volunteers (please click on the links to view the policies). These notices advise the individual:

  • Why we collect data
  • What we will use the data for, and
  • What we will not use the data for

We also use the Information and Records Management Society’s toolkit for schools to clarify how long we can retain any data we collect.

The school, as part of the Children's Endeavour Trust, agreed a new GDPR Policy document in February 2020 which was updated in March 2022. A copy of this Policy can be found here
